FAQ

Custom enamel mugs questions, answered.

Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.

What is the minimum order?

Our minimum order is just 12 mugs — one small cafe is a normal order — with bulk tiers for retail lines and gifting programmes.

How fast will my mugs arrive?

Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and finished mugs ship in about 2 weeks, with express turnaround available when an opening date is fixed.

What actually is enamel?

Powdered glass fused onto steel at around 800 degrees. That single fact explains everything about the product. It will never stain, never hold a flavour and never scratch from a spoon, because it is glass. And it chips, and a chip exposes bare steel, because it is glass on metal.

Why do enamel mugs chip, and where?

At the rim, overwhelmingly — it takes the impacts. A rolled bare stainless rim removes the problem by not having any glass at that point. The other common cause is the steel denting underneath, which crazes the glaze over it, which is why gauge matters in commercial service.

Are enamel mugs microwave safe?

No, never. There is a steel core inside the glass. They are dishwasher safe, oven safe and induction safe, which covers most of what people actually want, but a microwave is genuinely dangerous and no coat build changes that.

Is “enamel-look” the same thing?

No, and the word does a lot of work in this category. Powder-coated or painted steel is sold as enamel constantly. It is paint: it scratches, it is not oven safe, and it will not survive a commercial dishwasher. Real vitreous enamel is fired glass. Ask which one you are being quoted.

Will our logo wash off?

Not if it was fired. We screen print in enamel ink and put the mug back through the kiln, so the mark vitrifies into the surface and becomes glass. A low-temperature print or lacquer sitting on top looks identical when new and goes patchy within months of commercial washing.

Do you make insulated or stainless camping mugs?

No. Double-wall stainless, titanium, collapsible and insulated lidded mugs are different products made on different machinery, and we would rather point you at someone who does them properly. Everything we make is vitreous enamel fused to steel.
